The Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani’s family are going to file a lawsuit against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The family is going to file a suit after the election, Mohammad Hashemi, Rafsanjani’s brother, told the Mehr News Agency on Friday.
In a live debate with presidential hopeful Mir-Hossein Mousavi on the television on Wednesday night, Ahmadinejad charged Hashemi’s family with accusations of financial corruption.
The Expediency Council chairman’s office earlier sent a letter to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Director Ezatollah Zarqami urging him to hold a live debate between Rafsanjani and Ahmadinejad on the national TV.
The letter has emphasized the debate should be held before the election.
Karroubi to name a woman minister
Presidential contender Mahdi Karroubi stated on Friday that he will name some of his cabinet members including a woman minister next week.
Presently, appointing women in managerial posts is not a “routine” issue that this trend needs to be revised so that the takeover of top posts by women becomes a norm, he noted. Talking to reporters in Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchestan province, he also noted that massive turnout is the best way for a change in the country.
Mousavi and Ahmadinejad are real competitors
Principlist MP Mohsen Kouhkan stated on Friday that opinion polls indicate that the fierce competition is between former Prime Minister Mir-Hossein Mousavi and incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Talking to the Mehr News Agency, he said that the next administration should focus on the fifth development plan as a major priority. He also added there is a need for an economic reform to implement the 20-Year Outlook Plan.
On televised presidential debates, the member of the Majlis presiding board said debates have a great effect on undecided voters in a way that it can increase or decrease the votes for a challenger.
Ex-Majlis speaker Haddad-Adel backs Ahmadinejad
Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel stated on Friday that he backs Ahmadinejad, according to the Far news agency. The former speaker said that he believes that backing the incumbent president is necessary.
He added he will vote for Ahmadinejad because he is worried about the reoccurrence of events that followed the victory of Mohammad Khatami in the 1997 presidential election.
People seeking a change
Former MP Mohammad-Reza Khatami stated on Friday that people are seeking a change and the upcoming election is a good opportunity for the nation to change their fate.
He added the country seeks a kind of change that brings “security, glory, and honor” to the people and the country be managed based on “collective wisdom”.
Talking to Mousavi’s supporters in Mashhad, Khatami stated, “Dictatorship means destroying independence, disbanding the organizations, and neglecting law.”
The former secretary general of the Islamic Iran Participation Party (IIPP) added that the nation will not allow the country to face any dictatorship.
He went on to say that since the Islamic Revolution in 1979 it is the current administration which has made the highest use of public services for its election campaigns.
Rezaii believes women should take over diplomatic posts
Leila Boroujerdi stated on Friday that presidential contender Mohsen Rezaii believes that women should also take over top diplomatic posts.
Rezaii’s advisor on women affairs said that management should be based on expert knowledge. Talking to Rezaii’s supporters in Zanjan, she noted that his favorite candidate has different plans for women and the youth. She said she supports Rezaii because of his capabilities.
Ally says Mousavi seeks self-sufficiency
Soheila Jelodarzadeh stated on Thursday that the slogan “we can” (Ahmadinejad’s campaign slogan) happens only when the country produces all its needs and is not dependent on other nations.
Asked why workers support Mousavi, she said it is because Mousavi believes priority should be given to domestic products and that the country should be self-sufficient.
The spokeswoman for Mousavi’s supporters also rejected accusations of financial corruption against Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani’s family made by President Ahmadinejad in his debate with Mousavi. Jelodarzadeh noted that the Judiciary should have pursued the issue if these accusations were documented.
